SEASON 1 - February 2023 - May 2023

S1.1 - Garneau

Local Support: Mother Mary, OpenEnd, Wolf Machina
Venue: The Hive Studio
Production: Fabian Liebrand
Sound: Polite Sound

Vancouver-based DJ and producer Garneau debuted his first EP, Old School, through Main Course Records in 2018. He quickly gained notoriety by working with Chicago Ghetto House originators like Paris Mitchell, DJ Deeon, and DJ Slugo. In 2020, he co-founded Club Designs, an independent label focusing on Electro and Ghetto House, with Sharkki from Europe-based label Top Billin’ on A&R duties. Next up, in 2021, was the start of his collaboration with Vancouver’s Destrata known as Energy Boyz, a project entirely dedicated to tongue-in-cheek, peak-time rave music.

Known for doing the most with the least, Garneau’s tracks are meticulously crafted through a sci-fi vision of warehouse raves. His live DJ sets – including that Boiler Room from Bass Coast 2022 and a series of European dates in autumn of that year – are a growing concern in the West Coast scene and well beyond. 2023 shows no signs of slowing down for this multifaceted artist.

S1.2 - Michael Red + ADAM2

Local Support: Yung Kamaji, Mother Mary, OpenEnd b2b Wolf Machina
Venue: The Hive Studio
Production: Fabian Liebrand
Sound: Polite Sound

Michael Red is a Vancouver-based music producer, composer, curator, performer and DJ. Founder and lead for Low Indigo (leftfield music label, community, events, and channel), ambient/experimental artist under the name Souns, one half of LA FE with Daniel Rincon (NAP, Ambien Baby), one half of Chambers with Gabriel Saloman (Yellow Swans), former collaborator and touring artist with throat singer Tanya Tagaq for over ten years, former curator for New Forms Festival for over ten years, Bass Coast Music Festival resident, founding member of Lighta! Sound, and collaborator with a long list of other notable artists. Michael recognized as playing a critical role in shaping soundsystem and bass-centred festival culture in Western Canada as both an event creator and DJ.

For Adam 2, electronic music has always provided an opportunity for self-discovery, creative exploration, and personal liberation. Since 2016, the Vancouver-based producer and DJ has worn multiple hats in the city’s growing scene, fulfilling the roles of promoter, music curator, and co-founder of Techno label PPRZ. 2020 saw the release of featured mixes on Honcho, Techno Hour of Power, and the creation of Afrofuturism is NOW – a mix series amplifying the music of Black artists. As COVID-19 restrictions lifted at the end of 2021, Adam 2 maintained their stride sharing the bill with Carlos Souffront, Shanti Celeste, and Objekt along with launching a compilation on their latest venture, PPRZ, a Vancouver-based label curated by queer, POC artists. As Adam 2’s career gains momentum, they continue to build their reputation by transfixing audiences with evocative, experimental techno that intersects dynamic physicality and playful cerebralism.

Venue: The Hive Studio
Production: Fabian Liebrand
Sound: Ionic Sound Systems

Radiate is back May 5, 2023 with an enigmatic and beloved headliner from Bristol. We are grateful to DE-TÜ (Innamind, Infernal Sounds), who provided many folks’ favourite set at Shambhala 2022, for being our first international guest.

Another out-of-towner, but from a bit closer, is Edmonton’s Gremmah (Umbral Sound), whose energy behind the decks is only matched by her heated selections. Also featured will be locals Jonathan Crane (CJSW) and Visev, and rounding out the lineup with Radiate crew support is Mother Mary b2b Finn.

Michael Benz will once again be capturing the moment in photography and videography, Fabian Liebrand is back with more fresh ideas (and secret messages) from his world of projection mapping, and, for the first time, Ionic Sound will be powering the sound production.
